Diwali is less than a week away. I made these anti-cracker posters urging for a cleaner, quieter, greener Diwali!
I made these 2 posters for SayTrees who are doing some great work with bringing back the green cover in Bangalore and many other Indian cities. Their latest initiative is to promote Agroforestry as a means of helping farmers as well as the environment. The posters below explain the how & why.
Sneak peek - one image from the latest, soon-to-release Ruskin Bond book I illustrated for Penguin India.
Trying out my new Lyra color pencils, and I LOVE them! :)
I attended a month long Summer Residency at School of Visual Arts, New York this July. The focus of the program was Illustration and Visual Storytelling: Art and Industry. Among other things, we worked on developing our own theme based image series, comics, posters and book cover illustrations. With expert guidance from the teachers like Viktor Koen, Lisel Ashlock, and Tim Hamilton, the company of 17 talented illustrator classmates from around the world, and the crazy, stimulating city itself, the residency turned out to be an experience to cherish for a long time to come. Here's a picture of the bunch of us with Viktor Koen on the very last day, just before we bid goodbye to one another. Sara Sally & Alvar Sirlin are missing in the picture.
Here are a few of the illustrations I created during the residency, apart from the Fairy Tale illustrations on my website. A book cover illustration for a short story by Luis Borges called 'The House of Asterion' - a retelling of the myth of the Minotaur. And a single page super-panel comic.
For the cover illustration of Teresa's Man I was asked to try to capture the essence of non-touristy Goa. Here are the roughs for the other options I presented, and the final approved cover illustration below.
